While Samsung has managed to escape permanently from the notch on its Galaxy S10, by incorporating a simple punch in the top corner of its screens, the taiwanese brand AUO has obviously decided to up the ante a notch. The show SID Display 2019 this week, the automaker unveiled two new screen technologies intended to equip future smartphones on the market.

First innovation presented an ambitious screen of 6.2 inches, equipped with a small punch of 4.2 mm of diameter. In comparison, the perforation of the Samsung Galaxy S10e reached 5 mm in diameter, while the ram oval of the Galaxy S10+ peaks at 1.3 cm in width (always for 5 mm high). A significant change, therefore, all the more that AUO says that the hole will be “barely visible” on the screen of the 2520×1080 at a ratio of 21:9.

Second innovation, and not least, unveiled by the manufacturer this week, a LCD display screen of 6-inch 2160×1080 resolution, it also has no notch, and equipped with a fingerprint reader on its surface. Unlike the Samsung Galaxy S10, for example, which also includes a drive located under the screen, it will be possible to unlock the phone by touching anywhere of the screen. Two ads of size, which for the moment are not really concrete, but that could soon equip our next phones in the years to come.
